The history of Larimar is relatively recent. It was first discovered in 1916, but it wasn't until 1974 that a local Dominican, Miguel Mendez, rediscovered the stone on the beaches of Barahona. Mendez named the stone after his daughter, Larissa, and combined her name with the Spanish word for sea, "mar," to create "Larimar." This lovely, rare and spectacular mineral gem, Larimar is a blue pectolite found in the Dominican Republic. A stone that symbolises patience and peace. A perfect bracelet to add in your jewellery collection.
