Tiger’s eye is a quartz variety known for its distinctive bands and silky, shifting surface appearance a visual effect called chatoyancy created by the alignment of fibrous mineral structures within the stone. It began gaining recognition in decorative objects and jewelry during the 19th century, particularly after notable deposits were identified in South Africa, which remains one of its primary sources along with regions of Australia and India.
